I love Italian folklore. It’s a bit laid back—you stretch the timing and the tones a little. You slide into it and hold back just slightly.

My Italian friend and duo partner Paulo Russo has inspired me greatly. He’s like someone straight out of The Godfather. That’s where the inspiration came from to write the track Il posto del padre, which will be released this Friday. You can pre-save the track here: https://bfan.link/il-posto-del-padre

I have a soft spot for Ennio Morricone and a persistent fascination with decoding the DNA of a cultural heritage shaped by the people who carry it. Like my 300-year-old gypsy violin, I’ve also traveled around Europe (for the past 25 years we’ve traveled together 😊), allowing myself to be shaped by the sounds and atmospheres I’ve encountered. I try to transform these into my own language. I aim to capture something simple and original—without it becoming a rip-off or a cliché.

As a follower here on Sleeve, you’ll—as always—get to hear the music and see the videos before they’re officially released. Here is a live recording of this very piece from our concert in autumn 2025 at Stars in Denmark:

🇩🇰 In Danish

Titelmelodien til Godfather nr. 4

Jeg elsker italiensk folklore. Lidt laid back, man hiver lidt i timingen og tonerne. Du kan pre-save nummeret her https://bfan.link/il-posto-del-padre

Dear Friends.

The title for my new coming album Turkis actually came to me through a car. I was walking on this small danish island Møn, thinking about what to call the album, and there it was. Parked by a private house. The exact car I played with obsessively as a kid. A Citroën ID 19 same model, same shape from 1963. And now, suddenly, for sale. I’d just received a tax refund. And it was turquoise.

I’m not a car enthusiast. I don’t drive it daily. But on Sundays, I’ll now pick up a good friend, go for lunch, take it into the woods. There’s something about that kind of trip—driving out into the blue, with no destination. If that is the premise, anything can happen. That’s how I feel about music too. Just take me with you. I hope you’ll want to come along.

That car—it’s not really about the car. But it’s a beautiful convergence of things. I’ve noticed, when you drive an old vintage car like that, people smile. They wave. I hadn’t seen that before. It’s opening something. Turkis is the color of horizons—where borders dissolve, and music can flow freely. That’s the space this album was created in. An open, borderless space. And yet, the music isn’t just floating melodies. There are layers. Decisions. Things I had to let go of, and things I had to stay with.

The whole album is available for Falgren Friends subscribers here on Sleeve only. It will be out on June 26th 2026. Sign up now if you want to hear it and help to support my work.

I want to share this piece with you recorded at a concert with my dear friend Paolo Russo at his jazzclub in Møn 14 days ago. The piece is called Petrichor, inspired by the earthy scent produced by the first rain falling to the ground. Enjoy!

I recently made a tango arrangement of my composition “For Unity & Love.” And if there is something the world needs right now, it’s exactly that.

Paolo Russo(bandonéon) and I recently played it live at the venue Stars in Vordingborg, Denmark and it was filmed by Thomas Brosø.
Of course, I want to share the video here with you before I share it with the rest of the world.

Falls of Measach

Two years ago I was standing in Scotland watching this beautiful waterfall when this melody(Falls of Measach) came to me and I started to whistle it and recorded it on my phone. I decided to play it with my duo partner Sönke Meinen the same evening at the festival stage in Ullapool and the scottish people loved it. We released it on our album "The Circle" last year and now this song is nominated as the track of the year in the Danish Music Awards - Roots.

You can stream this song and the rest of our album here

This is my final ode in the trilogy of odes to the historic manor Rønnebæksholm in Denmark "Severin," will be released. A tribute to the estate where the poet Grundtvig lived with his great love, Marie. Recorded live on viola using two loop pedals in the manor’s old barn, the piece is calm and reflective, poetic and spirited—reflecting the temperament I imagine in Grundtvig himself.

Hope you will enjoy😊🎻
