Bjarke Falgren

Bjarke Falgren is a jazz violinist who plays music like he is breathing through the bow. Not as a virtuoso demanding attention, but as someone who finds the common thread between people and sounds. His instrument is an his 300-year-old gypsy violin played low and close, somewhere between Miles Davis muting a trumpet and the warm melodic openness of Pat Metheny. He is constantly on the road playing live and his body of work have received awards, reviews and recognition all over the world.

Playing music for people is my way of being with and meeting new people. I love picking up friends and strangers in my turquoise vintage car, driving into the horizons and connecting in music. I play a 300 year old gypsy-violin given to me by a stranger. I have spent more than twenty years finding the common denominator between whoever is in the room. My sound sits somewhere between Svend Asmussen, Miles Davis and Pat Metheny's most open melodic moments, unhurried, tactile, warm in the way old things are warm. People who don’t normally hear jazz or violin music, tell me there are room for them in my music. My music does not ask for your attention. Hopefully it makes you realise you were already listening. My live shows are open to everyone, big and small stages.
